An employee of the Greater Irbid Municipality’s Environmental Directorate has set himself earlier today, on Wednesday, October 3, 2018.

Primary reports stated that the man was protesting against the Municipality’s recent reduction of employees’ bonuses. However, the Municipality’s spokesman, Ismail Houri, indicated that the incident had no connection with the Municipality and that it took place outside normal working hours.

Houri said the Police has initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident.
The man was transferred to hospital and his condition is reported as critical.
